There are lots of reasons to use the Guest User feature on your Mac. For most of us, that'll be so others don't have unauthorized access to our files and settings. You can limit what they can and can't do fairly easily so you can be sure at all times that no one is doing things on your Mac that they shouldn't. Here's how to turn on the Guest User account:
- Click on the logo in the top left corner of your screen.
- Click on System Preferences.
- Click Users & Groups.
- Click on the Lock on the bottom left corner of the window. If you don't have an admin password you can skip to step 6.
- Type in your **admin password*.
- Click Unlock
- Click Guest User.
- Click the checkbox next to Allow guest to log into the computer.

Guest Account El Capitan Is Asking For Password Change
Nov 30, 2016 On the screen you will see user name of the account, just select it ( press forcefully on it to get selected ) click on next on bottom side. A rectangular bar appears enter your new password carefully and again go to top menu bar you will see apple logo click on restart. This is the way, and write down the password in safe place. I have 2 recently wiped to Yosemite, cleanly updated to El Capitan, and one of the machines had no issues with removing the guest account, and the other it just won't go away. I am going to turn off find my mac on the offending one, see if I can remove the guest account.

If automatic login is unavailable
When manual login is required, the “Automatic login” menu is dimmed or doesn't show the account name. For example:
- If FileVault is turned on, manual login is required for all accounts. You can turn FileVault off.
- If an account uses an iCloud password to log in, manual login is required for that account. You might also see the message “A user with an encrypted home folder can't log in automatically.” When changing the account password, you can choose not to use the iCloud password.
